Hello!

Well as we come to the end of another semester here, I always like to look back and see all of the positive things that have gone on here at Lakeland. This semester was especially positive in my opinion as Lakeland Student Activities took many strides here at Lakeland. Looking back at Homecoming 2011 and the huge success that it was, I am very proud and thankful for all of the help that the Lakeland community provided. Everything from working the dance, to donating water, cups, lights, snacks, and other supplies, thank you all for such a great event. Another thank you has to go out to my last semester Lakeland Leadership class for all of their time and efforts for putting on the biggest event that Lakeland Student Activities hosts all year long. Everything that they did, they did with a purpose and a goal in mind of making the event memorable for Lakeland students. From the Homecoming King and Queen, to the dance decorations, to the pep assembly, to all of the spirit week games and themes, they helped make “The Lakeland Experience” an even better one for our student body. Moving on to Toys for Tots there needs to be another big thank you to Lakeland as a whole for all the help and support. The day and the party all went off without a ton of issues and our guests from all across Oakland County had a great time at our event. We also accomplished another Lakeland first in the Lakeland Lipdub. This all school spirit project really helped generate some needed school spirit and was a fun time in the process of being made. I know that the Lakeland student body really enjoyed the event as a whole. I cannot thank the students, the staff, the administration, and Jessica Haren and Ciara Schultz for all of their hard work on the event as a whole.

Well as I look ahead to the second semester I right away start looking at Winterfest 2012. This is scheduled for the last week of February, Feb 21-25th. Our Winterfest dance is scheduled for Feb 25th from 7:30-10:30pm here at Lakeland in the Lakeland Fieldhouse. Tickets are $15/single and $28/couple and it looks like it is going to be a another great time here at Lakeland! Looking further into the semester we will be having another Mock Car Crash to display the dangers of drinking and driving to our juniors and seniors, while our freshmen and sophomores will have a presentation geared towards their age group. We will also look ahead to all the end of the year Senior Class activities, including Senior Breakfast and Senior’s Last Day, along with the Senior Prom and Graduation 2012. This year’s Graduation ceremony is scheduled for June 3rd at 4pm here in the Lakeland Fieldhouse.  I know that all of these activities will be exciting and I know that I am looking forward to them all as much as our students are. I am also looking forward to my new Leadership class starting on Monday Jan 30th. I know that they will continue the great tradition that is Lakeland Leadership and continue to lead “The Lakeland Experience” in the rest of this school year and next school year.

Thank you and good luck in the new semester!
