HOT Robotics #1 in the World

The FIRST Robotics World Championship was held April 16-19 in Atlanta GA.  Over 20,000 students from around the world gathered together under the Georgia Dome for some intense co-opertition™.   Of the 349 FIRST robotics teams attending the event, the state of Michigan was well represented sending 43 teams.  Michigan teams fared very well at the championship event, as 4 of the 6 teams in the finals were from our state.  The Heroes of Tomorrow (HOT) Team, is a group consisting of 44 students from the Huron Valley Schools and have been crowned as the FIRST Robotics World Champions.

Science Olympiad

The Huron Valley elementary Science Olympiad was held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Lakeland High School.  Baker, Country Oaks, Heritage, Highland, Johnson, Kurtz, Lakewood, Oxbow and Spring Mills Elementary schools sent their first and second place building winners to the district competition.  The events align with grade level science curriculum

“Project Sticker Shock” to Target Adults who Provide Alcohol to Youth

Highland Township - The Highland Township Coalition for Youth and Families’ members and Milford High School students participated in “Project Sticker Shock,” a youth-led initiative to change adult attitudes about selling and providing alcohol to minors at local alcohol retailers in May and June 2006.
